Nyamhongolo was established in 1946 under the Parish of Bugando. This congregation included the villages of Busekwa, Nyamadoke, Kanyama, Ihushi, Ng'wakilu, and Kahama. In 1953, Bujora was given a parish, and the Nyamhongolo congregation came under the Parish of Bujora, during which time the faithful remained in government buildings (at school). A believer named Anastazia Nyamulaguwa donated land, where the main church was built. In 2005, Igoma was granted a parish, and the Nyamhongolo congregation was transferred from Bujora to the Parish of Igoma. In 2017, the congregation of St. Michael was declared a quasi-parish of Nyamhongolo, including the congregations of Nyamadoke, Isela, Igogwe, and Ilalila. On February 27, 2021, the quasi-parish of Nyamhongolo was officially launched as a parish, and Padre George Nima Nzungu was appointed as the first parish priest of Nyamhongolo. St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us.
