St. Josephina Bakhita Parish, Nyamanoro
Welcome to Our Parish
Our parish of St. Josephina Bakhita was established in 2003. Initially known as the Chapel of St. Josephina Bakhita, it began with a modest metal church. Over the years, through faith and dedication, the parish has grown into a thriving spiritual community.
A Timeline of Our Growth

- 2005: Construction of a modern church began but was paused for 16 years.
- 2011: Under Father Francis Mtema, a new church was built where we currently worship.
- 2016: Archbishop Yuda Thadeusi Ruwaichi declared the church a designated parish, initiating the construction of a priests' residence.
- 2020:
- On September 19, Archbishop Renatus Leonard Nkwande officially declared St. Josephina Bakhita as a parish.
- Father Fabiani Ngeleja was appointed parish priest and began his ministry on October 1.
Our Parish Today
Today, our parish is thriving and continues to grow under Father Fabiani Ngeleja's leadership. From its humble beginnings with only four neighborhoods, the parish now serves:
- 11 neighborhoods
- 38 communities
- 1 chapel (St. Thomas of Akino Kilimahewa)
This year, 2024, marks the fourth anniversary of our parish’s declaration. We are blessed to celebrate this milestone with the near-completion of our modern church.
