Parish of the Holy Family Pasiansi

The Parish of the Holy Family Pasiansi was officially inaugurated as a parish in 2000. It is currently led by Parish Priest Fr. Alex Kitwala and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Canisius Milango, both priests of the Diocese. The parish now consists of seven neighborhoods and 35 communities with approximately 420 Christian families. Geographically, the Parish of Pasiansi borders:

  • Kawekamo Parish (West)
  • Bwiru Parish (North)
  • Lumala Parish (East)
  • Kiloleli Parish (South)

Seminarians

We have about seven (7) seminarians at the Major Seminary, two of whom are Erick Kyaruzi and Denis Nkuba. The Minor Seminary has five young men. The parish also hosts religious sisters from the Franciscan Order of St. Bernadette from Rulenge Ngara.

Smaller Goals for the Year 2024

  1. Purchase of Kigango Land

    • We have acquired land in the Lumala area for the establishment of a substation. However, legal procedures for obtaining the title deed are still being processed by the diocesan lawyer.
  2. Visit of the Archbishop

    • On 06/05/2024, we successfully hosted the Archbishop, who administered the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  3. Spiritual Growth

    • We have made significant progress in spiritual and faith development within our parish through various communities, apostolic groups, and seminaries. We thank our priests, Fr. Alex Kitwala and Fr. Canisius Milango, for their significant contributions to fostering faith.
  4. Participation and Contributions to Diocesan Events

    • Our parish has actively participated in diocesan events throughout the year, including ordinations, inaugurations of other parishes, and diocesan fundraisers. We have also contributed financially to diocesan and TEC activities.

Smaller Goals for the Upcoming Year/Period

  1. Continue developing the Kigango land in the Lumala area.
  2. Organize a fundraising campaign to complete the priests' house construction and pay existing debts.
  3. Actively participate in diocesan activities, including meetings, seminars, and events.
  4. Engage parishioners, especially at the community level, in timely diocesan activities.
  5. Ensure the continued strengthening of the Catholic faith within the parish.

Challenges

Most Reverend Archbishop, we have faced several challenges, particularly in the area of faith formation. Our parishioners still need more catechetical education. Additionally, participation in various church contributions, such as tithes, offerings, and support for the Lay Apostolate, remains a significant challenge.


Conclusion

First and foremost, we thank God Almighty for enabling us to accomplish much of what we set out to achieve in 2024, despite the challenges we encountered. We also continue to thank the diocesan leaders for their guidance, which enables us to walk in synodal unity.
