I know you have seen many churches here in Africa that have always tried to mirror European cultures due to the history of the church. All churches have been built to resemble Western churches and are often named after where they originated, also depicting Jesus and his apostles as white, etc. Now, there is a church in Bujora, Mwanza. This one is unique! It was built by a European, but it was constructed following Sukuma cultural traditions. From the building itself to the items inside, even the sculptures are of African likeness, including a depiction of Jesus as African. It is beautiful how this community of Sukuma people was reached by these missionaries. Just take a look at these pictures of the church for yourself.
